In our quest to find a temporary home to “shelter in place,” we were fortunate enough to be able to extend our original reservation near Frisco, Texas, and brother Doug, to four weeks! So many campgrounds were closed, including all federal and most state parks, that we grabbed what we could, and it turned out to be a beautiful place. We were in a lovely marina/RV park on Lake Lewisville, with our campsite backing up to a common area. Sites were wide and fairly private, with plentiful mesquite and oak trees, so we considered ourselves very lucky.

We had several beautiful days, as well as hot days, windy days, and extremely wet days:

On one of those beautiful days, we rented a pontoon at the marina on Lake Lewisville and Bubba, Bonnie, brother Doug and sister-in-law Lea headed out for an afternoon of fishing and relaxation (click on a pic to enlarge it):

We also took advantage of hiking paths around the park:

After several days of rain, we took advantage of the next nice day to get the kayaks out on the slightly swollen reservoir. We caught sight of hundreds of big carp hanging out along the lake’s flooded shoreline:

We also saw a multitude of waterfowl, including this beautiful great blue heron:

And another successful catch, a catfish to catch-n-release.

Then it was on to Oklahoma to visit yet another of Bubba’s brothers. We stayed at a nice state park, though it was very crowded when we arrived on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, go figure:

And how nice it was to spend Memorial Day with family!

Now it’s northward as we head towards Mt. Rushmore and a few days with our great friends, Wayne and Suzy, where we’ll check another item off the Bucket List before heading for the great North Woods!
