Wintering in Phoenix

After a long, busy summer, we have settled in Phoenix, Arizona for a few months to catch our breath and, possibly, get Bubba the back surgery he needs with time to recuperate before we hit the road in 2020. The original plan is to stay until the end of January, then head over to Texas to see Big Bend National Park and much of the Gulf Coast before heading north. We may extend our stay here in Phoenix depending on how long it takes to get Bubba scheduled for surgery.

When we pulled into our RV resort for our extended stay, we were pleasantly surprised by the layout and landscaping of the place. This is a manufactured and mobile home/RV park, for both snowbirds and full-time residents, who all take very good care of their properties and landscaping.

The resort has a wonderful clubhouse with a pool and HUGE jacuzzi, practice putting green and driving range, shuffleboard (holy cow, is it time to learn that now?!), plus a nice laundry room with a TV lounge. We’ve rented a golf cart to get around the resort, though if it’s not too hot, the walk to the mailbox will be good for us! Temps have been in the 80s, though we know they’ll drop some in December and January. Still better than 20s. 🙂

I was unsure how I would feel about Phoenix, being a northerner used to massive green trees, plentiful lakes and green, green, green, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the beauty and diversity of this area. Bubba is like a fish in water; he LOVES the desert.

Take a stroll with us through the park and enjoy this gorgeous desert environment!
