We’ve been in our Punta Gorda, Florida, winter spot for a couple months now, and it’s been the perfect calming influence in a year of stress and angst. We have a dock in the back of the park for launching our kayaks on Alligator Creek, and ibis pecking at the lawns after a rain, much prettier birds than pigeons!

Holding still for a significant period of time creates excellent opportunities to catch up with those things that non-Nomadic folks take for granted: Dental visits, doctor visits for check-ups and various ailments that old age has thrown at us, and physical therapy. And we didn’t forget the Beast, as she’s gotten new tires, new shocks, and tank clean-outs. Up next will be carpet cleaning and a good scrub-down to make her all pretty again.
It seems like most of our time has been taken up with those necessities, but we still have found time for fun. We’re spending some awesome catch-up time with our old friends from Colorado, folks we’ve missed a great deal since we hit the road almost two years ago. But funny enough, between texts, Zooms and the occasional phone calls, it didn’t seem like it had been two years! We’ve had great fun, including occasional outdoor dining, a fantastic sailing day, and even a Christmas Lights Cruise through the canals of Punta Gorda.

And when we aren’t busy with all that, we find time for this: Kayaking the Punta Gorda Area

All-in-all Punta Gorda has been a good choice for spending a comfortable winter while still staying safe. I’ll update the “Where we’re going” blog page soon, so you can see what our plans are for 2021. Here’s hoping it’s a safer, healthier year than this past one has been. So long, 2020, and good riddance.
We hope everyone had a safe and merry Christmas, and remember to keep #SixFeetApart, and #WearAMask!
